Funding should not be the thing that stops the work. Whether you are a visual artist refining your practice, a multidisciplinary creator building a larger body of work, or an independent creative looking for production support, there are real opportunities open right now with deadlines approaching. Below is a curated list of grants, residencies, fellowships, and paid open calls, if you have been waiting for a sign to apply, this is it.



Deadlines May 15 through June 15, 2026



Dieu Donné Workspace Residency Program

Deadline: May 15

Funding: $600 stipend, studio access and production support


This New York City metro area residency supports artists interested in experimenting with hand papermaking and paper pulp as a creative medium. Selected artists receive access to Dieu Donné’s studio, technical support and time to develop a new body of work.



Women’s Studio Workshop Studio Residency Grant

Deadline: May 15

Funding: $350 weekly stipend, materials support, travel support, housing and studio access


This six to eight week residency supports artists working in intaglio, letterpress, papermaking, screenprinting, photography and related studio practices. It is a strong fit for artists developing process based work with access to equipment, space and focused production time.



Monson Arts Fall Residency

Funding: Housing, meals, studio space and stipend support


Monson Arts offers artists and writers time, space and community in Maine. The residency supports focused creative development and is open to visual artists, writers and interdisciplinary practitioners.



The Studios of Key West Peyton Evans Artist Residency Program

Funding: Housing, studio access and residency support


This residency offers artists time and space in Key West to develop new work, connect with community and engage in a creative environment shaped by place, culture and artistic exchange.



Cuttyhunk Island Artists’ Residency Fall Residency

Deadline: May 15

Funding: Residency support and housing


This seven day residency gives artists focused time on Cuttyhunk Island in Massachusetts. It is ideal for artists who need a short but immersive period to reset, experiment or push a current project forward.



Center for Craft Craft Archive Fellowship

Deadline: May 20

Funding: $5,000 fellowship


This fellowship supports archival research focused on underrepresented craft histories in the United States. Artists, researchers and cultural workers may apply to develop projects that expand how craft histories are documented, preserved and understood.



VIA Art Fund Artistic Production Grants

Funding: $25,000 to $100,000


VIA Art Fund supports new artistic commissions that are presented beyond traditional museum spaces. This is a major opportunity for artists and organizations developing ambitious public facing visual art projects, installations or exhibitions.



The Nicholson Project 2027 In House Residency

Funding: Residency support


The Nicholson Project supports artists whose work connects to community, place and public engagement. The in house residency is ideal for artists developing work that moves between studio practice, cultural research and neighborhood based storytelling.



1708 Gallery Pilot Artist Residency Program

Deadline: May 22

Funding: $1,250 monthly stipend, live and work space, equipment access and public program support


This two month residency in Richmond, Virginia supports artists within a 600 mile radius of Richmond. The program offers time, space and support for artists building new work with access to the gallery’s resources and public platform.



Grantham Foundation Visual Arts Residency

Deadline: May 27

Funding: CAD $5,000 to $10,000


This four week Québec residency supports established artists whose practices engage environmental issues. It is a strong fit for artists working through climate, ecology, land, social systems and the relationship between people and the natural world.



Banff Centre Early Career Writers of Poetry

Headlands Center for the Arts Artist in Residence Program

Stove Works Artist Residency

Stove Works offers artists one to three months in Chattanooga, Tennessee to live, work and develop new projects. The residency supports artists across disciplines and provides a focused environment for experimentation and production.




The Meridian Award

Deadline: June 15

Funding: $1,000 unrestricted cash prize


The Meridian Award is an international opportunity for contemporary artists working in any medium. One selected artist receives an unrestricted cash prize to support their practice.

La Porte Peinte Open Call for August 2026

Upcoming Deadlines/Roling


PhotoVogue: Brave New Visions, Creativity as Rebellion

Deadline: September 11

Funding: Three grants totaling $12,000


This falls outside the June 15 cutoff, but it is worth keeping on the radar. PhotoVogue’s global open call is open to photographers, video artists and multimedia creators 18 and older. Selected artists receive funding and international visibility through PhotoVogue, Vogue platforms and the PhotoVogue Festival.



Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant

Deadline: Rolling

Funding: $5,000 to $15,000


Provides financial assistance to painters, printmakers, and sculptors facing unexpected hardship, helping them sustain their practice during difficult periods.



Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant

Deadline: Rolling

Funding: Up to $50,000


This grant offers substantial financial support to visual artists who are painters, sculptors, and/or artists who work on paper, including printmakers. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis: there are no deadlines. Grants are intended for a one-year period of time and the Foundation will review expenditures relating to an artist’s professional work and personal expenses. Unrestricted grants range up to $50,000 with the size of the grant determined by the individual circumstances of the artist.



Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grants

Deadline: Rolling

Funding: Up to $2,500


Offers quick turnaround funding for artists facing urgent opportunities or unexpected project costs, allowing them to move forward without delay.
