Funding should not be the thing that stops the work. Whether you are a visual artist refining your practice, a multidisciplinary creator building a larger body of work, or an independent creative looking for production support, there are real opportunities open right now with deadlines approaching. Below is a curated list of grants, residencies, fellowships, and paid open calls, if you have been waiting for a sign to apply, this is it.



PowerLines Photography Fellowship

Deadline: April 15

Funding: $30,000 stipend


This three month fellowship supports an experienced documentary photographer in developing a project that explores the impact of rising utility costs across communities in the United States. The selected fellow will create a body of work that can evolve into a public facing project such as a book, exhibition, or digital platform, while contributing to a larger archive centered on economic and social realities.



Textile Society of America Research Travel Grant

Deadline: April 15

Funding: $500 to $1,000


This grant supports artists, scholars, and researchers traveling to engage with textile-based work. Funding can be used for museum visits, field research, or cultural study, making it a strong opportunity for those whose practice intersects with material culture and historical exploration.


Hedgebrook Writer-in-Residence Program

Deadline: April 17

Funding: Fully funded residency (housing + meals)


This residency supports women-identified writers with dedicated time and space to focus on developing a body of work. Set in a retreat-style environment, it offers a quiet, immersive setting for storytelling, reflection, and creative growth, while fostering a sense of community among writers.



Rancho Linda Vista Summer Artist Residency

Deadline: April 17

Funding: $1,000 stipend


This one-month residency provides artists with housing and a private studio in a remote desert setting. Designed for emerging artists, it creates the conditions for focused, independent work, encouraging artists to develop new ideas or expand an existing body of work.



2027 Art on Market Street Poster Series RFQ

Deadline: April 17

Funding: $12,000


The San Francisco Arts Commission invites artists to develop a series of public-facing works that will be installed across Market Street. Selected artists will create a cohesive set of images responding to a theme connected to the city, offering both visibility and the opportunity to engage directly with a large, public audience.



Eastside Arts Initiative Grant

Funding: $2,500 to $10,000

Global Arts Prize

Funding: $60,000

LACMA Art + Technology Lab Grant

Truckee Public Art Installation RFQ

Funding: Up to $82,000


Artists are invited to design and execute a large scale public artwork for a roundabout in Truckee, California. Selected finalists receive funding to develop concepts, with one artist ultimately awarded a larger budget to complete the full installation in collaboration with the city.



NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants

Deadline: April 24

Funding: Part of $2.5M initiative

These grants provide unrestricted funding to nonprofit organizations working in areas such as youth empowerment, storytelling, and community engagement. Applications are evaluated based on overall impact, making this a strong opportunity for organizations doing consistent, meaningful work in their communities.



CANVAS Amplify Grant

Deadline: April 27

Funding: $25,000 to $75,000

This grant supports nonprofit arts organizations presenting work that explores identity, culture, and community. Projects that foster cross-cultural dialogue or bring underrepresented perspectives to broader audiences are strongly encouraged.



The Democracy Cycle 2026

Deadline: April 28

This multi-year initiative commissions new performance-based works across theater, music, dance, and interdisciplinary practices. Selected artists develop projects centered on themes of democracy, offering space to explore civic engagement through creative expression. Apply here



Creative Experiences Grant

Deadline: April 30

Funding: $2,500 to $5,000

Headlands Center for the Arts Residency

Experimental Fellowship

This fellowship supports interdisciplinary projects that explore new approaches to design, architecture, and environmental thinking. Selected fellows receive funding, mentorship, and access to a network of collaborators to develop forward-thinking work.



MacDowell Residency

Deadline: May 10


MacDowell offers artists uninterrupted time and space to create within a respected residency program that has supported generations of artists across disciplines.



Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant

Deadline: Rolling

Funding: $5,000 to $15,000


Provides financial assistance to painters, printmakers, and sculptors facing unexpected hardship, helping them sustain their practice during difficult periods.



Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant

Deadline: Rolling

Funding: Up to $50,000


This grant offers substantial financial support to visual artists who are painters, sculptors, and/or artists who work on paper, including printmakers. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis: there are no deadlines. Grants are intended for a one-year period of time and the Foundation will review expenditures relating to an artist’s professional work and personal expenses. Unrestricted grants range up to $50,000 with the size of the grant determined by the individual circumstances of the artist.



Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grants

Deadline: Rolling

Funding: Up to $2,500


Offers quick turnaround funding for artists facing urgent opportunities or unexpected project costs, allowing them to move forward without delay.
